About Printers Setup: Independent Printer Setup Guides

Printers Setup is an independent website with step-by-step guides to setting up printers: getting a new printer out of the box, connecting it to Wi-Fi or a network cable, adding it on Windows 11, macOS and ChromeOS, printing from iPhone and Android, setting up scanning, and sharing one printer between several devices.

Not affiliated with any printer maker

Printers Setup is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Apple, Google, Microsoft or any other printer or software company. Product and brand names are used only to say which device or software a guide refers to. We are not a manufacturer’s help desk, we do not run a phone support line, and we will never ask you to call a number, pay for setup or install remote access software. Setting up a printer is free; if a website or advert says otherwise, be careful.

What we cover, and what we do not

We stick to setup: the steps that take a printer from the box to a working first print and scan on each of your devices. We do not publish printer reviews, ink price comparisons or repair guides for hardware faults.

Where to start

The guides are grouped in four sections, and each one links to the others where steps overlap:

  • Wi-Fi and network: joining a printer to Wi-Fi, WPS, Wi-Fi Direct, Ethernet, mesh systems, guest networks, finding a printer’s IP address and opening its web settings page.
  • Computers: adding, removing and sharing printers on Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS, ChromeOS and Ubuntu, including command-line setup with PowerShell and CUPS.
  • Phones and tablets: printing from iPhone, iPad and Android, with and without AirPrint.
  • By model: first-time setup for popular HP, Canon, Epson and Brother home printers.

If you are starting from scratch, the wireless printer setup guide is the best first page.

How the guides are written

  • Each guide follows the current menus of Windows 11, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, Android and Ubuntu, and says where older versions such as Windows 10 differ.
  • Steps that vary by printer model are described in general terms, with a pointer to your model’s own manual for exact button names.
  • Menu paths and protocol names are checked against the platform makers’ published help pages, listed as sources at the end of each guide.
  • Pages show the date they were last updated.

If you spot a menu that has changed or a step that does not match your device, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections are the most useful messages we receive.

History

The site began as a small collection of printer setup pages. In 2026 it was rebuilt: thin and duplicate pages were merged into fuller guides, unverified claims were removed, and the phone number that appeared on the old home page was taken down, since we do not provide phone support.

Languages

Guides are written in English, and the most-read guides are also available in Spanish and French.
